What I have been venting about lately is the secondary use of MP3 music in the production of videos. For example, when you make a YouTube video and use your favorite CD as background music.
Copyright and illegal use aside for a moment …
It appears that we have an entire generation of internet users who are perfectly fine with this practice. The reasons he cites on stage are twofold.
(1) is easy to do
(2) Someone is stopping.
Okay I’m sure the media giants that own these copyrights can’t go after every little illegal use of a video. But they are going after the big web sites that are serving them. There are two lawsuits that I am aware of (and probably more) that www giant YouTube is defending itself against, even though they clearly state on their submission form that you must own the copyright to anything you submit become.
There is plenty of legal MP3 music to download.
But hey… if you bought it in a store or heard it on the radio… it’s not royalty free. This means it is ILLEGAL to use it for your videos.
Start with some free loops, free clips, and then move on to some “purchased” MP3 royalty-free music.

YouTube for business purposes
If you are promoting a product or service, you should just use YouTube for business. The site gets millions of visitors every day and you can attract some of these visitors back to your website.

If you have made a video that you are happy with, load it to YouTube. As part of the loading process you will be asked to enter what is called your tag. These are basically keywords related to your video content.
Good keywords are really important when using YouTube for business.
If your video is about iPods for example and someone typed the term into the YouTube search box, your video could show up in search results. Then again, it might not.
By adding tags, you are giving people a better chance of finding your video. Your tags can be related to the iPod so that you can have tags of MP3 player, MP3, iPod learning etc. This method you can use for YouTube business because more with tags, you are giving people more options to locate your content.
You might be expecting people to type in the word ‘iPod’, but some people think differently. An iPod for you is probably an MP3 player for someone else. This is the beauty of using tags in YouTube. You’re guessing what people are likely to type in when searching for your video content.
If you know the brand, you can use that as a tag as well.
There’s no telling exactly what people are likely to type when searching for content on Google or YouTube. Another good example is the word ‘football’. In many countries it is called just that, but in the United States they know it as soccer. Someone looking for football can type football so again your tags need to reflect this.
Categorize your videos
Also assign your videos the right categories to make it easier for people to find them. These are quite important, as this YouTube is a way of filtering the many videos that are placed. There are millions of people out there and the category will help speed up search. Make sure you have chosen the appropriate category for your video.
