Unveiling the New Venues: Exciting Golf Courses for the 2023 Season

There’s already a huge array of absolutely spectacular golf courses worldwide. And yet, more keep coming! There are already multiple exciting golf courses coming in 2023, so golfers who want something fun, challenging, and never-before-played should definitely add these to their lists for the upcoming year or so.

Here’s our list of the new venues worth playing this year or in the future. These golf courses spare nothing, offering the full golf club or resort experience to their patrons. Check them out here and add them to your list if you’re close by or if you’re planning to travel!

Cabot Citrus Farms, Florida, USA

The Cabot brand is at the helm of some of the most spectacular golf courses in the world, and their newest offering is Cabot Citrus Farms, coming later this year. The property itself is 1,200 acres of pristine natural landscape, including three golf courses: two 18-holers and a 21-hole short course.

The two 18-hole courses promise to be every bit as amazing as Cabot’s other courses. Featuring sandy soil, sizable natural waste bunkers throughout, and a mix of different trees and flowers, they’re attractive as well as a fun and challenging play!

Generous fairways make teeing off easy for all levels of golfers. It’s in your best interest to hit as true as possible because the fairways are lined with an intriguing combination of palm trees, sand pines, and ancient oak trees. If you veer to the side, you may find yourself with a lost golf ball.

As for the 21-hole short course, it’s a bit of an anomaly in the golfing world, but sure to be a draw. Split into two “nines”—10 holes (called 10) and 11 holes (called Aces)—you can play each separately or play the full 21.

The 11-hole Aces course will also be lit up at night, so if you’re looking for something new and different, playing a night round could be fun!

Vietnam might not seem like the greatest golfing destination in the world, but it offers some excellent courses for extremely reasonable prices. Plus, it’s one of the most affordable places to vacation, so consider it next time you’re planning a golf vacation!

Designed by Greg Norman, the Dragon Golf Links features two courses—a full 18, par-72 course and a 9-hole, par-36 course. Both offer lovely ocean views, as well as very driveable fairways, sizable greens, and the real possibility of an ocean wind to wreak havoc on poorly-planned shots.

Facilities other than the golf include an impressive clubhouse, which boasts a modern locker room, a bathroom including a jacuzzi, and a ballroom that can accommodate up to 1,000 guests. Plus, the on-site restaurant serves great food, both local and international.

Omni PGA Frisco Resort, Texas, USA

This resort is just a few months old and waiting for golfers to enjoy its courses! While much of the focus is on the hotel and resort facilities, the resort also features two excellent 18-hole championship golf courses.

Together, the courses are called Fields Ranch, and you can book stay-and-play Fields Ranch packages so you get to experience superb service inside the resort as well as on the golf courses.

There’s also a 10-hole short course, which is lit at night, so you can throw in a quick night round if you’re looking for something fun. There’s also a 2-acre putting practice course, which may sound skippable, but it’s got its own fun—a customizable jumbotron that lights up in the darkness.

With the array of course options, there’s truly something for everyone, whether you’re a beginner, an intermediate, an experienced golfer, or a senior. You’ll be spoiled for choice when it comes to food and beer as well, so this is an ideal golfing spot for those who like the finer things in life!

Bois d’Arlon Golf and Resort, Belgium

The Château du Bois d’Arlon estate is currently being renovated but will open sometime this year. The plan is to transform into a unique, exciting destination for golf lovers, which will encompass a deluxe 4-star hotel, family lodges, a relaxing spa, a fitness center, and a fine dining restaurant, as well as two 18-hole golf courses.

The Parkland course, designed by Jonathan Davison, blends right into the estate’s existing park, providing a gentle and enjoyable course. Golfers who want a wild experience can enjoy the Heathland course, designed by Stuart Hallett to incorporate the natural flora and fauna.

Every effort has been made to ensure that these golf courses remain in harmony with nature. Meticulously calibrated irrigation systems have been set up using water from the venue’s wastewater treatment plant and rainwater.

There are also plans to build a reservoir to collect and store water for future use, and there are no plans to drill a borehole or use tap water on the courses. Also, no pesticides will be used in order to preserve the natural grasses and plants.

Environmentally-conscious golfers can play here with a clear conscience and enjoy all the luxury that comes with the resort experience.

Te Arai, North Course, New Zealand

New Zealand is a stunning landscape, even off the golf course, with many features that make you feel like you’re on another planet. It’s also home to some spectacular golf courses, and soon to be added to that list is the North Course at Te Arai.

Scheduled for launch in October 2023, the North Course is designed by Tom Doak, a renowned golf architect. The opening and final holes are ocean-side, but the rest of the course meanders inland, giving it a unique feeling overall.

It’s hard to pin down what kind, of course, this is because it has a bunch of interesting features. These include cliffs, gigantic cavernous holes (bunkers), ridges, and beaches, making for a fantastic experience from tee-off to the final putt.

It’s worth noting that you can’t just play the course as a visitor—you need to be a guest at the resort, so a stay-and-play package is the way to go if you want to experience this otherworldly golf course.

Conclusion

Which of these exciting new golf courses are you planning on playing once it’s open? There’s something for every kind of golfer here, so add these to your bucket list now!
